We are a team of DogCat Batumi volunteers.
Since 2020, we have been rescuing animals.
We want there to be no stray or sick animals on the city streets.
We also strive to reduce the population of stray animals
Since 2021, thanks to our persistence and responsiveness of the Batumi administration, we have our own place where we treat and keep animals until we find them a home. The DogCat territory is equipped with enclosures and booths, we have several employees
Also, our volunteers regularly go to the roads to feed dogs and, if possible, take them from there for treatment and search for a home
We are always happy to help and new people in our team.
The more of us there are, the more ponytails will find a home, love and care.
Now we have an established system, a list of veterinary clinics and shelters for animals
For everyone we rescue and sterilize, we look for a home or release them into the city to places where volunteers look after them: they are fed, vaccinated according to schedule, and their health is monitored
There are no barriers for us. Our animals find homes all over the world
If someone wants to save an animal or take it to another country, we will definitely help and advise. We will provide a clear action plan

Team of volunteers in Georgia

I came to Georgia 7 years ago, and, of course, I saw everything that was happening to animals there: there were a lot of stray dogs and cats on the streets. But if in cities the dogs are more or less well-fed, vaccinated and sterilized, then on the roads, for example, Tbilisi - Batumi, there is simply horror: there are whole flocks of sick, emaciated animals!
And when our team began to engage in this activity, we began to create a base that would give people the opportunity to consciously save animals. We created chats
At first, I transferred money to the shelter, helped financially, but did not physically take part, because I knew: if I started, it would never end. Once you take the step into volunteering, there is no turning back. But Carrie's cat changed everything, I treated her for a long time, and then gave her a home
Ira
I lived in Georgia, in Batumi from 2014 to 2021, but I am originally from Kharkov. I became a volunteer somehow by accident.
And even though I don’t live in Georgia now, this doesn’t in the least prevent us from continuing the work we started. I am especially pleased when new volunteers, following our example, unite into groups and also help animals locally.
I remember once telling the girls that I would never give injections or treat them. After 3 months from the beginning, I was already using a syringe with might and main, etc.
By helping the homeless, we heal our soul. This is exactly what happened to me. I rescued animals, and they helped me get through the most difficult period of my life.
I love cats very much, but when it comes to rescue, a cat, a dog or a bird is absolutely not important to me. Now I have a Batumi cat and a Spanish pigeon with a broken wing

But it seems to me that more animals will appear soon
Daria
I have been familiar with Batumi as a tourist city from an early age. The decision to move was made by the war, and for the first two years my family and I were the people who needed help
Therefore, when I returned to my hometown, Kharkov, in 23, I started volunteering. And having arrived again in Batumi, I was happy to help animals who need a safe and comfortable environment. After all, we are responsible for those we have tamed
Julia
Originally from Belarus, I have been living in Batumi since 2018.
And now, since 2020, we are moving forward with small steps, saving the souls and lives of little creatures who need our help and making this world a little better
Since childhood, I have loved animals and, to the best of my ability, helped volunteer organizations by transferring donations, but in Batumi, life brought the girls and me face to face with the acute problem of homeless animals in Georgia, which cannot be ignored
Nastya
Although I have had dogs and cats in my life since birth, I had never volunteered before. That is, of course, all the cats and almost all the dogs in our family are selected, but this happened spontaneously.
And in Georgia, it seems to me, you cannot help but be a volunteer - consciously. You just can't pass by. And you begin to feed, treat, house... And also, this is a kind of therapy, because dogs and cats trust you, love you, hope for you. And it seems that this great love makes the world a little better...
Lena
I came to Georgia 4 years ago, and from that moment on I quietly began volunteering.
It seems to me that there is no other way
At home, in Belarus, where I’m from, I didn’t do this, I helped my sister who was actively in this field
Sometimes, at times, it seems to me that volunteering is not a hobby, but a main job, that work really fades into the background
Asya
I arrived in Georgia in December 2022. Almost immediately from the moment I arrived in Batumi, I began helping homeless animals. At first, every day I went to feed the dogs that lived next to my house.
Then a pregnant cat came to my door and within a few days gave birth to 7 kittens at my home. From that moment on, I started looking for homes for kittens and cats. When everyone was settled, I continued to search for homes for other cats and kittens from the street and continue to do this to this day.
In addition to helping cats, I also work on the DogCat territory, where we treat dogs and further find homes for them.
I can no longer imagine my life without helping homeless animals, because volunteering has taken a very big place in my soul
